Fall is here and we’re rolling into a busy month of training, trialing and hunting for you and your versatile dogs. Please read carefully — our schedule has a few important updates.

No Field Training Day — October 3

There will not be a chapter field training day on October 3. Use this weekend to keep up your yard work, obedience reps, and conditioning as we move into the fall testing season.

Snake Avoidance Clinic — October 10
GMHT, Lake Wales
Our next official training day is the Snake Avoidance Clinic on October 10 at GMHT in Lake Wales.
This is one of the most valuable safety trainings you can give your dog. The clinic helps dogs learn to recognize and avoid venomous snakes — a critical skill for any hunting or outdoor companion in Florida.
If you haven’t participated before, this is a great opportunity to add an essential layer of safety to your dog’s training.

Fall Test Prep Training — October 31QHF Training Grounds
We’ll be back at QHF on October 31 for a full training day focused on Fall Test preparation.
Whether you’re running NA, GDT, or UT — or simply want to sharpen your dog’s field skills — this day will be structured around the components of the fall test:

  • Field search
  • Pointing & steadiness
  • Tracking
  • Water work
  • Obedience foundations
  • Handler strategy & test-day readiness

Young dogs and new handlers are absolutely welcome. Even if you’re not testing, this is a great chance to learn, observe, and build your dog’s confidence.
