In order to help you get the most time in the field with your dog and fellow members, we are alerting you to our Summer and Early Fall Schedule.

First thing to understand is the timing of the training.  For June, July and August, we will be training from 7am to 11am.  If it happens to be a hotter than normal day, we will break before 11am.  We do this for the obvious safety reasons for our dogs.

With the changing in fees across the board, we will have a non-refundable, pre-paid field and bird plan for each training session.  It will be available on our website, at the Store.  This will greatly reduce our overall bird waste and costs and help us plan training much better.If you are able to volunteer for any of the below dates please let us know too, we always can use help to set up, take down, handle birds, take attendance and help those with less experience then you!

Training Schedule and Plan:
A. GMHT-Fundamentals Training will be for less experienced or inexperienced dogs, those who are newer to Florida Palmetto Chapter or are just getting started with your dog/s.  It does not matter how old your dog is for these sessions. The trainings at GMHT will focus on the fundamentals of NAVHDA training and Natural Ability Testing.  Each handler will get some individual training and be given specific training homework for your dog.

GMHT Training Dates:

  • July 15th, 7am start time
  • August 12th, 7am start time
  • September 9th, 7am start time

B. QHF Training will be for more experienced handlers, and will focus on dogs that have passed their Natural Ability Test, or for handlers with field experience. Focus will be retrieving, obedience, water work and steadiness.

QHF Training Dates:

  • June 24th, 7am start time
  • July 29th, 7am start time
  • August 26th, 7am start
  • September 23rd, 7am start
